Information follows on: (* = of particular interest) Networks 94 show * Leased lines * More phone lines JANET/JIPS Peering * Points of Presence Transatlantic Bandwidth POP3 Server World Wide Web What is Demon Internet? Internet Shows ============== Demon Internet are taking their second exhibition stand this year at the masive Networks 94 show at the NEC Birmingham June 28-30. We have a modest 6.5m stand on which we will be demonstrating dial up and 64K connectivity, World Wide Web, Mail, News etc. People will be able to sign up at the show and buy modems, books etc.. Leased Lines ============ Lower leased line prices: We are offering a low cost 64K leased line service - Only #2,500 for the first year plus BT charges and setup charges. This works out at only about #6,400 in Central London for the first year and only #4,500 per year afterwards. Please ask us for our leased line information pack. Offer closes 31st August 1994. More Phone Lines ================ We are experiencing ferocious growth and have been placing heavy demands on our suppliers including BT. We have over 100 extra telephone lines on order spread across every PoP. The first 32 of these were installed in London in the last week of May. Another 32 will be installed in June as well as 6 extra at most PoPs. JANET/JIPS Peering ================== We are very pleased to announce that we have reached a peering agreement with the JANET/JIPS UK academic network and have ordered a 384K leased line to ULCC. Points of Presence ================== April 1994 saw the Reading PoP (Point of Presence) come online. During May the Yorkshire QuadPoP with local phone calls for Leeds, Hull, Bradford and Sheffield has been installed. The Sunderland PoP which additionally gives local call access to Newcastle and Durham went also into beta test in the first week of May. Cambridge and Saffron Walden PoPs were due during late May but we are waiting on Cambridge Cable to sort out their lines. The Birmingham PoP looks like being delayed to late June as BT have to do a lot of roadwork to get the cable to the site. A PoP for the Isle of Wight has been commissioned and the lines are on order. This is expected to be available during June and will give local call access to Portsmouth and Southampton. A PoPs for Bristol is in negotiation. Further PoPs are always being considered. Transatlantic Bandwidth ======================= Our transatlantic line was upgraded to 256K from 1st May with compression to 512K to follow later. The existing 64K line is still in place as a backup and backup routing will remain although not necessarily by this route. POP3 Server =========== We are offering a POP3 Mail Server Service from May. This is Post Office Protocol and is ideal for the user who travels the world or who would prefer to use a POP3 Mail Server rather than an SMTP one because thats what their mail software uses. This service costs #25 to join and #180 per year. World Wide Web ============== We are offering a World Wide Web server so that companies may make their information accessible on the Web. We offer space for #25 per month for up to 5Mb with discounts for larger space and a full design and consultancy service. More details about any aspect of our services are available from Grahame Davies on 081-349 0063 or grahame@demon.net What is Demon Internet? ======================= Demon Internet provides a gateway to the worldwide Internet. The service started in June 1992 and by May 1994 has over 5,000 members with over 800 people joining every month. The standard service gives direct full Internet connectivity to your desktop. Even more powerful services are available which allow you to connect a complete network via a leased line or reserved dial up line.
